Jamie

I woke up in a puddle of my own drool on top of Teddy’s chest. Like a boss.

Quickly sitting up, I tried wiping the drool off him before he woke up. Too late. His rumble came out in a chuckle. “Don’t worry, Jamie, I like your wet mouth on me, remember?”

I glared at him. “Ha ha, funny man. It’s embarrassing. What time is it? I didn’t mean to fall asleep.”

He leaned over to check his phone. “It’s after two. We should get some lunch.”

We got up and put on some comfortable clothes. Teddy offered to make lunch so I said I’d start the fire. I opened the door to let Sister out and saw it had started snowing like crazy while we were sleeping. There must have been a foot of new snow on the ground already.

I started the fire and joined Teddy at the table for sandwiches and soup. My phone pinged with an alert from the head ranger station to shelter in place for the upcoming snowstorm. No problem. I was glad we were safe and sound at home.

After Sister came in, she curled up and went back to sleep by the fireplace. I grabbed my laptop out of my bedroom and settled down on the sofa to work. Teddy joined me and sat in his usual position with his back against the arm of one end of the couch, but this time he stretched his legs across the other cushions toward me. He tucked his toes under my thigh, and I ran a hand up inside his pant leg to stroke the hair on his calf.

“That feels good,” he said. I kept stroking his legs with one hand while browsing the Internet with my other. The fire crackled and Sister began to snore. Eventually, I stopped stroking his legs and started typing up my lecture notes.

Teddy worked on his own laptop for a while until I noticed I didn’t hear typing anymore. I looked up and saw him studying me.

“What?” I asked.

“Jamie, I didn’t hurt you earlier? In bed, I mean. Did I do something that upset you?”

“No, Teddy. What you did to me definitely did not hurt,” I said, giving him a smile of reassurance.

He continued to look into me with his intense blue gaze. “Would you please talk to me about what’s bothering you? I know you’re upset about something.”

“I’m okay, Teddy. We’re not going to do this, remember? The feelings thing? My body enjoyed your body. End of story. It’s good. I look forward to doing it again before I go to sleep tonight,” I said with a wink, wishing like hell I hadn’t let my emotions leak out after sex earlier.

Why the hell did I need to care so much all the damned time? There was something about Teddy that I just couldn’t fucking hold at arm’s length no matter how hard I tried.

“Okay. But if you change your mind, it’s okay. About the bodies thing or the feelings thing. You can talk to me about either.
